Maelok battle report

3 for 3 with Maelok the Dreadbound!

Last night was two fights. A 35 point batle vr a Cryx hoard of undead pirates and a 35 point battle vrs a warjack heavy Cygnar.

The battle plan was the same: Get in close. Survive one round of fighting. Pop feat and run through the line and hit the caster. Not going to give the gory play by play, but will give you what I learned.

Revive and Sac Strike: Saved my tail (ha ha get it. gators and tails) against Cryx. You can not revive a Boxed gatorman posse member but you can a dead one. Know what a one box gatorman posse is good for? Sac Strike! Only being within 8 inches of the target is dangerous, but a pow 16 damage strike without having to roll to hit is amazing. Even though his caster escaped my feat assassination run, he didn't get out of Sac Strike range. Against soft casters, you will be almost dropping them by half for the cost of one gatorman you can't revive anymore.... but posse comes as a min of three....

Incorporeal and order of actions: I almost messed up my run because of this. His caster had a spell up where living models had -2 str. I popped feat and charged with a Snapper... and lost 4 damage that would have killed him outright because of that spell. Looking back on the turn, I cold have used the Witch Doctor's Zombiefy spell or Maelock's Death Pact to make it undead first. Also, we remembered that charges, while incorporeal, only require line of sight since you pass through terrain and other models as if they were not there.

Ask if anything has magic weapons!: Magic weapons still get free strikes against incorporeal models. Be careful!

Undead and feat: This kind of goes with Incorporeal and order of activations. Get as many things as you can with undead expecially the posses. Death Pact gives them +2 armor, feat gives them +2 armor for being "undead", and unyielding gives them +2 armor while engaged. That is a defense 12 (13 with dirge) and a 22 armor for a round.

Undead and Gatorman rerolls to hit: reread the card. Gatorman posse can reroll to hit Living models. That whole undead thing blows.

Stop stealing my models!: Gatorman posse.... undead.... Cryx takes control of an undead mini... mine... and back strikes my snapper almost killing it....
