For those who don't know me, I don't like going out of my comfortable little box when it comes to painting. If I push myself it is in small controlled bursts. Doing this is a BIG burst forward and I was terrified. I watched the video that came with the airbrush (taking notes) and watched SchnauzerFaceMinis' YouTube video on his airbrushing the Castigator. Finally, I got up the courage and started. This is the results.
I started with Thornwood Green like the video and tried to copy it. I failed. BUT, I did learn a lot and am stripping them now for round two.
I also forgot to post the tattoo that I did on Kang in Malifaux's Railcrew box.

I was smitten with this airbrush after trying it at the nova 2012. The salesman there let me try it on a pad of paper and it seemed awesome so I got one. I've used it quite a bit but I've come back to using my iwata eclipse because the pistol grip just isn't good for miniature painting.
The pistol grip means you have to use you wrist for your range of motion as opposed to your fingers and wrist when using other airbrushes - this means your flexibility is limited with the grex in comparison with others. Sadly, I've put away the grex and go to my iwata 90% of the time...though the grex is better for terrain and some vehicle work. A shame really because it's really a nice brush. I love the magnetic nozzle mounts. Trouble too is that it's hard to clean some spots of the brush. Sorry to be a downer.
I actually think cleaning wasn't that bad. It took a while to get use to the pistol grip and found myself going from too little to too much paint. That could be from my inexperience with the airbrush. But, as with anything, practice makes perfect!
